  • If you have previously experienced one or more episodes of major depression or bipolar disorder and wish to stay well and avoid a relapse.
  • If you who have dysthymia (low-grade chronic depression) and desire to elevate your mood, as well as prevent a major depressive episode.
  • If you have anxiety that is accompanying your depression.
  • If you who are currently experiencing a major depressive episode and wish to use these strategies as an adjunct to medication and/or psychotherapy.

    Although these e-tips focus on healing from depression and anxiety, these principles are universal and can be applied to similar chronic mental/emotional disorders--such as addiction and eating disorders. 2. Words That Heal Affirmations and Meditations Newsletter

The Words That Heal newsletter is a serialized version of my 1990 affirmation
book, Words That Heal: Affirmations and Meditations for Daily Living. When you

  • The daily meditation--a short passage that offers thoughts and reflections about a

3. Healing From Depression Affirmations Newsletter

The affirmations in this newsletter were derived from the five part "better mood
program" as outlined in the book Healing From Depression and Words That
Heal the Blues. Every few days, you will receive an email that contains a healing
affirmation about recovery from depression and anxiety. As you can place your
attention on these positive thoughts, they will replace any automatic negative
thoughts (ANTS ), thereby creating a better mood. Below, I have provided a list of
some sample affirmations you will be receiving.

  1. Today I affirm that I am the person responsible for my health and well being. I
    am the director of my recovery program.
  2. Today, I recognize that my physical and mental health are connected. As I take
    the time to nurture and care for my body, my state of mind benefits and improves.
  3. Today I will challenge my inner critic. If I hear any self-put downs, I will notice
    and affirm my inner goodness.
  4. Today, I will look for something good in a situation or a circumstance I face. If I
    cannot alter the situation, I can still choose my attitude about it.
  5. Today I practice self-forgiveness. I understand that I am doing the best that I
    can. I re-label my mistakes as learning experiences and offer compassion towards
    myself.
  6. Today, I will take a small step towards moving through my fears by doing that
    which I fear. I know that courage is not the absence of fear, but the willingness to
    move forward in spite of the fear.

4. I Am With You Always Inspirational Quotations Newsletter

I have always been drawn to quotations as a literary form that captures truth
and wisdom in a concise, and often poetic fashion. As a result, in 1990, I decided
to take the hundreds of quotations that I had been collecting and compile them
